Frequently asked questions

Once we book our date, I will send you my client guide and a link to a style site with recommendations on dressing your entire family. With that said, my motto is always “wear what makes you feel like you.” You can also ask me for advice as you plan–I am happy to share my opinion.

We will work together to choose the ideal location for your session. Some of the factors we will consider are the time of day that works best for your family (outdoor sessions are at sunrise or sunset), the aesthetic you are most drawn to, and the personality of your family.
-
It is up to you. We can either shoot indoors at your home or outside in nature. My personal favorite sessions are at home (both for my own family sessions and with my clients). There is something special about capturing your family in your natural environment–the place where your children feel free to go wild and where coffee is always nearby.
That said, nature is also my happy place. When we allow ourselves to be free, exploring, and even getting a little messy, magic happens. You know your family better than anyone, and you know what fits you all best. Many of my clients actually alternate annually between in-home and on-location sessions–this is always ideal!

If it rains, we will reschedule. Lucky for you, watching the weather forecast is one of my favorite things to do. If you like to watch it too, then, by all means, keep an eye on it, but if it’s not your thing, the pressure is off. I will reach out during the week of our session to discuss the forecast and we can make plans accordingly.

In order to make sure that my schedule has enough room for the amazing families that I photograph, I do not offer extended family sessions. With that being said, I always welcome nontraditional families (e.g., immediate families composed of grandparents or other caregivers).
-
In order to make sure that I have enough time to give to the sessions that really speak to me, I have chosen to limit my offerings to immediate family (including married or unmarried couples without children), maternity, newborn and river sessions.
-
We will reschedule! I am a mom and a human too. I know things come up that are out of our control, and I do my best to keep my schedule flexible enough to reschedule in situations like this. I never want you to feel that you are an inconvenience to me.

I'll let you in on a little secret...I love children who are themselves regardless of the situation–these wild and free souls are my favorite. If your little one wants to attach themselves to you and snuggle the entire session, great. If they want to explore, collect rocks, or get muddy, great. I truly mean it when I say that your family directs the session. I come into every session with an open heart and wait for you to show me your special kind of magic.
-
I know how exciting it is to get your images so I try to work on them as quickly as possible, while making sure they are everything you could hope for. After our session, I will continue to follow up with you so that you are in the loop, but you can expect to receive your gallery within about 2-3 weeks.
-
As my client, you will have access to my email and phone number. I am always happy to answer any questions or do anything I can to facilitate a magical experience for you and your family.
-
In order to offer all of my clients the best possible service and support my family so that I can continue to do what I love, I do not offer any discounts. Upon booking a session, half the session fee is collected to reserve your date, and the remaining half is due on the day of our session.

My family sessions last anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on our location and how much exploring we intend to do. I do not offer mini sessions because I want to give you the time and freedom to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the moment. You have spent time, energy, and money on your session, and I want to give you space to enjoy our session, and the people you are with, without worrying about how much time we have.
